Job Title: Technical Office Engineer - Roads (Civil Engineering)

Job Description

We are seeking a talented and proactive Technical Office Engineer to support our road construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Civil AutoCAD, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, and hands-on experience in managing Variation Orders with clients. The role will involve technical support, preparation of designs, and close coordination with clients and project teams to ensure smooth execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities

                                Design and Drafting:

                                Prepare detailed technical drawings and designs for road infrastructure projects using Civil AutoCAD.

                                Ensure that all designs meet project requirements, standards, and specifications.

                                Revise and update design documents as required throughout the course of the project.

                                Variation Orders:

                                Work closely with clients and project managers to prepare Variation Orders and ensure they align with project scope, costs, and timelines.

                                Handle client queries regarding variations and ensure timely resolution to avoid project delays.

                                Manage and document changes in the project scope, costs, and schedules in collaboration with project stakeholders.

                                Documentation and Reporting:

                                Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including design calculations, technical reports, and progress updates.

                                Track project milestones and report on status, ensuring that deadlines are met and challenges are addressed promptly.

                                Monitor project variations and budget adjustments, keeping both internal teams and clients informed of any necessary changes.

                                Coordination and Communication:

                                Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth communication and project execution.

                                Coordinate with the construction team to ensure that design specifications are correctly implemented on-site.

                                Participate in client meetings to discuss progress, variations, and any potential issues.

                                Technical Support:

                                Provide technical support to the project management team, ensuring that designs are executed efficiently and according to client requirements.

                                Review project plans, contract documents, and technical specifications to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements:

                                Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

                          Must have at least 5 years’ experience in a construction company roads sector

                                Proven experience in road construction or civil engineering projects, with a focus on technical office support.

                                Expertise in Civil AutoCAD for designing and drafting road infrastructure projects.

                                Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.

                                Hands-on experience with Variation Orders, managing scope changes, and dealing with clients effectively.

                                Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and adapt to changes during project execution.

                                Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, consultants, and internal teams.

                                Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.

Desirable Skills:

                                Knowledge of local regulations and standards related to road construction.

                                Experience with project management software or tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) is a plus.

                                Strong understanding of cost estimation and budgeting processes.
