Job Details
• Work Environment: Marine instrumentation technicians work in various onboard locations, including control rooms, engine rooms, and near machinery spaces. These areas can be noisy, have limited space, and may be exposed to extreme temperatures.
• Travel: The job often involves travel, as technicians may need to stay onboard for repairs at sea or travel to different ports for projects.
• Physical Demands: The role requires physical stamina and dexterity to work in confined spaces, lift and maneuver equipment, and climb ladders or scaffolding. Good eyesight and hand-eye coordination are essential.
Job Duties 
• Installation and Maintenance:
o Installing, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing various marine instrumentation equipment, including:
▪ Pressure gauges, temperature sensors, and flow meters
▪ Navigation equipment like GPS and radars
▪ Control systems for engines, boilers, and steering gear
o Working with diverse instrumentation technologies, including pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Data Monitoring and Analysis:
o Monitoring and analyzing data collected by onboard instrumentation systems to identify potential issues and ensure optimal performance.
o Preparing reports and maintaining detailed records of instrument readings and maintenance activities.
• Safety and Regulations:
o Following strict maritime safety regulations and standards when working on instrumentation systems.
o Ensuring instrumentation provides accurate and reliable data for safe ship operation.
o Performing preventative maintenance to minimize equipment failures.
